That's right, dear people of outstanding taste and wisdom, The nabokov Arts Club is back to blow your creative minds with more artistic delights and late-night folly. Be aware that this time we'll be rocking Village Underground on a Friday night rather than a Saturday, so save the date - Friday 26th November - and start getting extremely excited.
As always we'll be bringing you a line-up of heart-stopping variety and brilliance, a venue to knock your socks off and a crowd you'll want to take home with you, so waste no time in booking your tickets here. Tickets are available online until 2pm Friday, and then there will be tickets available on the door if you hurry!
Here's the line-up:-
CHRIS HICKS Aisle 16’s Chris Hicks will be stepping up once again as compere – delivering his witty and erudite performance poetry along the way.
BRIGITTE APHRODITE and the VOB’s Fresh from their tour with Kate Nash, Brigitte Aphrodite and the VOB’s will be bringing their unique and addictive blend of poetical punk pop.
DRYWRITE presents DRYFIGHT Place your bets and watch the action as acclaimed company DryWrite present their hilarious and exhilarating concept show - DryFight.
LAZY HABITS Having literally stolen the show at the recent Mos Def UK tour, festival favourites Lazy Habits come to the Arts Club for the first time with their high-octane mix of jump-up beats, glorious bass lines, turntable embellishments and supreme horns accompanied by tight and intelligent lyrics from two MCs. MR FISH Our house DJ Mr Fish returns once again to provide eclectic beats into the small hours.
We’ve already announced the bulk of our line-up, but here are a few extra treats to whet your appetite:
GARETH RICHARDS Gareth Richards’ engaging observational comedy and inspired one-liners have made him an instant favourite on the comedy circuit. He can be heard every Saturday morning from 8am on Frank Skinner’s silver Sony award winning Absolute Radio Show. Gareth’s debut Edinburgh show “Gareth Richards: Stand Up Between Songs” was nominated for Best Newcomer in the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2010.
HOME AND GARDEN: A BRAND NEW INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION Step into the nabokov house and make yourself at home while listening to and sharing stories with StoryStation. Alternatively relax in the charming garden. There’s no place like home...
MAKE YOUR OWN SILENT MOVIE BOOTH We know you love to come and watch fantastic live performances at the Arts Club, and now we’re giving you a chance to get in on the action. Get dressed up, find some silly props and start improvising as we invite you to star in your very own silent movie!
The first 150 people to buy tickets will get 2 for 1 drinks before 9pm, so get yours sharpish.
