Australian writer Van Badham, already much noted this fringe for Camarilla, follows some clever character observation with astute political satire in this brief double bill. In Morning on a Rainy Day, the dog days of an on-off couple - she, about to marry someone else, he, as emotionally detached from the event as he could be, is examined. There are some fine one-liners in this piece, while its companion has much the same, but in a contrasting tone. Capital reflects upon the horrific emotional bankruptcy of American Neo-Conservatism, as two PR consultants work on spinning an Iraqi war atrocity into something positive for the media. On frugal production values, director James Grieve showcases some emergent talent in both writing and performance.
