This next instalment of London's best arts party will once
again feature the cream of the UK's established and emerging talent
from across the spectrum. Exploring the theme of
Fables and Fairytales,
expect headline theatre pieces from
Jack Thorne (
The Fades/
This
is England '88) and a musical subversion of the Cinderella story
from composer and
Doctor Who star
Arthur Darvill (
Been So Long/
It's
About Time).
Other acts include:-
KING PORTER STOMP
Live music from across the spectrum is fronted on both nights by this critically acclaimed and festival-worshipped funk, ska, dub and hip-hop outfit. They caused a huge stir last year at Shakespeare's Globe as the house band in
The God of Soho, and with their unique blend of massive horns, heavy bass and socially aware lyrics, have quickly established themselves as major players on the UK live circuit.
GAVIN OSBORN
A singer-songwriter on top form having recently performed with Daniel Kitson and supported Belle and Sebastian on tour, Gavin will be reworking some of Aesop's Fables into modern folk songs.
FLYING DUTCHMAN THEATRE
A fairytale for grown-ups, 'The Fantastical Tale of the Boy on the Run', is a lighthearted comic tale told with a giant pop-up book!
Meanwhile, in hidden dens, enchanted forests and magical ballrooms, discover otherworldly performers including
Hugo Maciel; a breathtakingly beautiful performance artist and juggler,
Fitzgerald; a music and spoken word collaboration exploring contemporary storytelling,
dANTE OR dIE; a promenade dance-theatre collective performing all over the building, and
Amanda Wilkin; a lost princess who sings the blues.
PLUS…'Appointment with a Fabulist'; an interactive installation creating your very own Fable by
Dumbshow Theatre… rare soul and funk spun by
Citizen Kain and
Eddie B… dancefloor treats and bass heavy beats from
Tomski (Scratch)…participatory musical improvisations from
Inconstant… walkabout performers… hot food… and lots more…
